OVID Health partners with cLAB Ventures to support digital healthcare and cancer start-ups

OVID Health (OVID), the independent specialist healthcare communications agency, today announced it has partnered with leading cancer start-up accelerator, cLAB Ventures, to help drive the translation of high-potential, fast-growth cancer innovations into commercially successful companies across the globe.

As the official communications partner of cLAB Ventures, OVID will be delivering communications and PR-focussed workshops and support to entrepreneurs and start-ups taking part in this year’s virtual StartUp Academy.

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020[1]. This number is expected to rise in the coming years, accounting for the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on access to routine screening, diagnoses, and treatment.

Treatments and diagnostics are continuously improving, but research projects and start-ups face numerous challenges, from resource limitations to market noise, and often fail due to the lack of funding and commercial support. cLAB Ventures, founded in 2019, aims to overcome these obstacles and accelerate the development of promising cancer-related solutions by connecting entrepreneurs and start-ups with experienced industry professionals and investors, helping to deliver capital investment, market access and mentoring.

Jenny Ousbey, Managing Director and Founder, OVID Health: “We are delighted to be working with cLAB Ventures to help support their talented network. Start-ups and SME’s are the future growth engine of the global economy and it is important to give these companies the best support to enable them to flourish. This partnership allows cLAB Ventures and its members to tap into our communications and PR expertise, enhancing their investor and stakeholder engagement as they grow and develop.”

Sara Korchmaros, Co-Founder and CEO, cLAB Ventures, commented: “Effective PR and communications plays a critical role in the growth of new companies. Having insight from OVID – who are recognised thought-leaders and experts in the life science and healthcare communications space – will strengthen our programme offering from this perspective, so we can help more companies succeed.”
